About Wharfeview Shih Tzu
Wharfeview
I was brought up in an Equestrian, Doggy family, running riding stables, a boarding kennels and groomers.
In the 1970’s I took on the challenge of Child Handling with my father’s Gyhllendale St Bernard’s (the top Kennel at the time).
At the age of 11 years - after several years of nagging - I acquired my first Griffon Bruxellios - he was such a loyal little boy.
I eventually attended University with my griffon in tow to study Equine Physiology and Movement. After University I embarked on a Lecturing Career initially
in Yorkshire which meant I was still very much involved in the family equestrian business.
As Griffons had played such a massive part of my early years, I decided that I wanted to get into showing dogs as a bit of light relief!!
Over a period of time, with help and support I was able to steadily build up a team of Wharfeview Griffon boys and girls, peaking in winning best Opposite Sex and the
Reserve CC at Crufts.
Work and horses took hold with a move to Oxford which lead to my dog showing taking a break. Rather than dogs I was showing, producing and judging horses at the top level
accompanied by a notorious pack of Griffons!
Finally back in Yorkshire again with a team of griffons of senior ages,
I started to handle a couple of other small breeds and finally in 2010 started to produce the Wharfeview Shih Tzu’s.
Although still waiting for the right griffon we have fallen in love with the fun loving Shih Tzu who have now have grown and developed and are now our main breed.
Over the years we have owned and produced successful show stock, consistently qualifying for Crufts, as well as healthy well socialised family pets.
We pride ourselves in producing a classical Shih Tzu with an excellent temperament.
